About the Eco-Mono

We are a team working on an open source commuting vehicle. Our goal is to create a safe and affordable vehicle to get you where you need to go and challenge our concept of what a car has to be. This projects started as an idea and has been in the works for several years with working prototypes hitting major milestones and we believe it has the potential to be something special. What you see here is a rendering of our current model. Below, you will find photos of the fully built first version and details about what is next.

Besides driving, there is air conditioning, full reverse and automatic transmission, head and tail lights+ blinkers and options for a trailer hitch. It is currently using golf cart components and goes about 50 mph without stressing any of the components. Our goal is 75+ miles per hour, and we will reach that by simply upgrading the engine and belt. But we have some data from this model that shows we have a major area needing improvement.

We would love it if you took a look at what we have so far and gave us your feedback!

The eco-mono project

As mentioned above, current model is suboptimal in a few areas and we would love your help. The vehicle is built to be very easy to construct, without access to complex tools or hardware. That way, even if you were just trying to build one yourself in your garage with minimal equipment, you would be able to. Or a local machine shop could help build one. We built it using simple shapes and general knowledge about aerodynamics. But, we aren’t at a point where we are satisfied yet. As you can see, it could be better in that area specifically. That is where we would love to ask for your help. Below this section is a link to our design competition and an image of the working model currently being used for testing.
